The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Sammic ISB as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Sammic ISB defeated 14th ranked Albacete in Azpeitia 90-83. Sammic ISB made 26-of-34 free shots (76.5 percent) during the game. 29 personal fouls committed by Albacete helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for New Zealand center Mike Karena (208-93, college: Wright St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. Canadian guard Joe De Ciman (198-94, college: Colorado St.) helped adding 18 points and 5 assists. At the losing side American guard Jeffrey Short (193-92, college: Norfolk St.) responded with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Kris Davis (188-93, college: SIU Edwardsville) scored 19 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Five Albacete players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sammic ISB (14-5) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Albacete lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourteenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Tarragona and Zamorano. Albacete will play next round against L'Hospitalet trying to get back on the winning streak. Sammic ISB will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Cambados on the road.
