Very expected game in Reggio Emilia where 12th ranked Enel Brindisi (8-10) was defeated by sixth ranked Grissin Bon RE (10-8) 98-84 on Monday. The game without a history. Grissin Bon RE led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Grissin Bon RE had a 25-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Grissin Bon RE looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Enel Brindisi was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. International forward Achille Polonara (203-91) scored 25 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the charge for the winners and international Amedeo Della-Valle (192-93, college: Ohio St., agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Robert Carter (206-94, college: Maryland) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) scored 19 points. Four Enel Brindisi players scored in double figures. Enel Brindisi's coach Romeo Sacchetti tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Grissin Bon RE moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Banco di Srd and Betaland Cdo. Loser Enel Brindisi keeps the twelfth position with ten games lost. Grissin Bon RE will face league's second-placed Umana Venezia on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Enel Brindisi will play against Openjobmetis VA (#15) and hope to win that game.
