Regular Season Round 34: Soles - Correcaminos 84-66

Date: February 9, 2017
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Soles (22-12) beat bottom-ranked Correcaminos (6-28) in Mexicali 84-66 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Soles. Correcaminos managed to win fourth quarter 32-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Correcaminos to just 6 points in first quarter. Soles looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) notched 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and naturalized American guard Luke Martinez (193-90, college: Wyoming, agency: Pro Sports) supported him with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Soles players scored in double figures. Soles' coach Alejandro Martinez used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists by the former international point guard Omar Quintero (182-81, college: S.Nazarene) did not help to save the game for Correcaminos. American guard Dekabriean Eldridge (191, college: N.Mexico JC) added 23 points for lost side. Soles have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 22-12 record having seven points less than leader Fuerza Regia. Correcaminos lost ninth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 28 lost games. Soles will again meet at home bottom-ranked Correcaminos (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Correcaminos will have a break next round.
