Regular Season Round 37: Ehime OV - Fukushima 70-73

Fourth-ranked Orange Vikings (16-20) gave a tough game to second ranked Fukushima (22-14) in Matsuyama on Friday. The visitors from Fukushima managed to secure only three-point victory 73-70. However their fans expected easier game. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-70. Fukushima forced 20 Orange Vikings turnovers. Strangely Orange Vikings outrebounded Fukushima 54-35 including 39 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Fukushima made 7 blocks. American guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) fired a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. His fellow American import center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds. U.S. Virgin Islands center Craig Williams (206-89, college: TCU) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 21 rebounds and guard Toshino Tatsuhiko (185-88) added 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Four Orange Vikings players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Fukushima maintains second place with 22-14 record having three points less than leader Gunma. Loser Orange Vikings keep the fourth position with 20 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
