Regular Season Round 26: COR-Borisfen - Impuls BGUIR 82-90

The most important game in the last round took place in Mogilev between second ranked COR-Borisfen (20-2) and fifth ranked Impuls BGUIR (14-10) on Saturday night. COR-Borisfen was defeated by Impuls BGUIR in a tough game at home 82-90. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of COR-Borisfen. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 8 points. Impuls BGUIR dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to COR-Borisfen's 36. Impuls BGUIR forced 25 COR-Borisfen turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by COR-Borisfen helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Genadziy Zahar (200-92) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 18 rebounds. Russian guard Alexander Matveev (194-91) contributed with 8 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. International point guard Artem Malkov (185-88) replied with 28 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and Ukrainian center Maksym Kozlovets (205-90) added 23 points and 14 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) in the effort for COR-Borisfen. Impuls BGUIR moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Vitebsk. COR-Borisfen at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Impuls BGUIR is looking forward to face Prinemanye (#7) in Grodno in the next round. COR-Borisfen will play on the road against Brest (#8) and is hoping to win this game.
