Date: February 11, 2017
Twelfth-ranked Angers (3-14) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (11-6). The visitors from Villeneuve managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 22-14 Angers' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 70-67 at the end of the game. Ukrainian swingman Alina Iagupova (186-92, agency: LBM Management) nailed 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and naturalized Senegalese forward Mame-Marie Sy-Diop (185-85) accounted for 13 points. The former international Amelie Pochet (180-84) came up with 16 points and 5 rebounds and international point guard Romane Bernies (170-93) added 13 points respectively for Angers in the defeat. Villeneuve D'Ascq maintains fourth place with 11-6 record. Angers lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq's next round opponent will be Nice (#9) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Angers will play against Mondeville and hope to win that game.
