Regular Season Round 19: Lanzarote - Tenerife Naut. 74-70

There was an upset in Arrecife where higher ranked Tenerife Naut. (11-6) was defeated by twelfth ranked Lanzarote (7-10) 74-70 on Saturday. Tenerife Naut. was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 21-9 charge of Lanzarote, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Tenerife Naut.'s 26. They outrebounded Tenerife Naut. 44-25 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American guard Cameron Vines (193-93, college: St.Joseph, IN) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Kennedy Eubanks (198-93, college: Texas Arlington) helped adding 18 points. Worth to mention Eubanks played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. At the losing side guard Roberto de-la-Rosa (193-85) responded with 18 points and 7 rebounds and Cuban power forward Georffri Silvestre (202-79) scored 11 points. Four Tenerife Naut. players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Lanzarote maintains twelfth place in Group B with 7-10 record. Loser Tenerife Naut. keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Lanzarote will face higher ranked CB Guadalajara (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
