Regular Season Round 19: Valladolid Univ. - Univ.Burgos 88-60

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Univ.Burgos (4-12) was outplayed on the road by sixth ranked Valladolid Univ. (10-6) 88-60 on Saturday. Valladolid Univ. forced 29 Univ.Burgos turnovers and had a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Javier Martinez (187-97) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 4 steals. Power forward Alvaro Encinas (202-94) helped adding 13 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side forward Alvaro Lombera (202-84) responded with 19 points and 7 rebounds and guard Nacho Garcia (187-88) scored 15 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Valladolid Univ. moved-up to fifth place in Group A-A, which they share with Santurtzi. Univ.Burgos lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. Valladolid Univ. will face league's second-placed Cantbasket in Santander in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Univ.Burgos will play at home against Zarautz Ulacia (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
