Second Stage Round 4: Esgueira - Vasco 56-67

Vasco has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Esgueira, where they defeated Esgueira / Oli (1-3) 67-56. Strangely Esgueira / Oli outrebounded Vasco 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for point guard Miguel Toreia (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 6 assists. Guard Guilherme Sequeira (190-95) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Five Vasco players scored in double figures. Vasco's coach Hugo Salgado allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Bruno Fernando (200-96) replied with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Bolon Sauane (193-94) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Esgueira / Oli. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Vasco left bottom position moving up to fifth place in Places 1-8, which they share with Esgueira and Academico FC. Vasco's next round opponent will be higher ranked Estoril Basket (#4) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Esgueira / Oli will play against Barreirense in Barreiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
