Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (7-11) was outscored by third ranked Cortegada (11-5) in Lugo 82-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cortegada led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Cortegada forced 22 Maquinaria Ensino turnovers. It was a good game for Cape Verdean-American guard Vandell Andrade (179-93, college: Le Moyne) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Senegalese center Amy Syll (196-93) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Cortegada players scored in double figures. Cuban guard Licet Castillo (175-73) replied with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists and forward Raquel Asensio (178-83) added 7 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Maquinaria Ensino. Maquinaria Ensino's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Cortegada have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group A with 11-5 record having five points less than leader Alcobendas. Loser Maquinaria Ensino dropped to the ninth place with 11 games lost. Cortegada will face ADBA (#13) in Aviles in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maquinaria Ensino will play on the road against GDKO Bizkaia (#7) in Galdakao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
