Fifteenth-ranked Blusens Monbus (5-14) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Baskonia (14-6) in Vitoria on Sunday. Baskonia managed to secure only one-point victory 87-86. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Blusens Monbus won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Baskonia made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Hungarian Adam Hanga (199-89, agency: Octagon Europe) who scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Laprovittola (193-90) chipped in 15 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Shayne Whittington (209-91, college: W.Michigan) who recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and Lithuanian forward Eimantas Bendzius (204-90) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Blusens Monbus' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Baskonia maintains fifth place with 14-6 record. Loser Blusens Monbus dropped to the sixteenth position with 14 games lost. Baskonia will meet Zaragoza (#13) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Blusens Monbus will play against Andorra and hope to secure a win.
