Regular Season Round 17: La Spezia - Broni 57-39
Date: February 12, 2017
Bottom-ranked La Spezia managed to get a second victory, breaking the series of ten consecutive losses on Sunday night. This time newly promoted La Spezia won against ninth-ranked Broni 57-39. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 18-point difference suggests that La Spezia is in a good shape to leave the bottom place. The game without a history. La Spezia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Broni to just 4 points in fourth quarter. La Spezia forced 19 Broni turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Erika Striulli (170-90) who scored 19 points. Croatian power forward Nina Premasunac (186-92, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 15 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American-Nigerian Ndidi Madu (188-89, college: Florida, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 2 points and 10 rebounds and Estonian power forward Maaja Bratka (190-92, agency: LBM Management) added 9 points respectively for the guests. Broni's coach Roberto Sacchi tested ten players seeing no chance for a win. Newly promoted La Spezia maintains twelfth place with 2-15 record. Broni lost their fourth game in a row. Broni at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with 13 games lost. They share it with Vigarano. La Spezia will meet league's leader Lucca on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Broni will play against the league's second-placed Venezia (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
