Regular Season Round 6: UNINASSAU - Blumenau 66-51

Rather expected game in Recife where 5th ranked Blumenau (3-9) was defeated by second ranked UNINASSAU (8-4) 66-51. It looked good early as Blumenau took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then UNINASSAU had a 14-5 second period charge getting the lead and Blumenau was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 51-66. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Blumenau to just 5 points in second quarter. It was a good game for swingman Ariadna Felipe (179-83) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. The former international center Gilmara Justino (191-81) contributed with 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Leila Zabani (181-91) replied with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international center Carina Felippus (184-79) added 11 points in the effort for Blumenau. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. UNINASSAU have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 8-4 record having just three points less than leader Corinthians. Newly promoted Blumenau keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. UNINASSAU's next round opponent will be Sampaio (#4) in Sampaio Basquete. Blumenau will play at home against the league's leader Corinthians/Americana and hope to win that game.
