Regular Season Round 19: Polpharma - Stal Ostrow 78-79

A very interesting game took place in Starogard. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 11th ranked Polpharma (10-10) to fourth ranked Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (13-8) 79-78 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Polpharma. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. had a 24-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Vincentian center Shawn King (208-82, college: ORU, agency: Pensack Sports) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Aaron Johnson (173-88, college: UAB, agency: Two Points) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Stal Ostrow Wlkp.'s coach Emil Rajkovic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Point guard Marcin Flieger (185-84, agency: Promotex) produced 17 points and 6 assists and Serbian power forward Uros Mirkovic (205-82, agency: BeoExcell) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Five Stal Ostrow Wlkp. and four Polpharma players scored in double figures. Stal Ostrow Wlkp. have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 13-8 record. Polpharma at the other side keeps the eleventh position with ten games lost. Stal Ostrow Wlkp.'s next round opponent will be Wilki Morskie (#9) in Szczecin which should be theoretically an easy game. Polpharma will play on the road against Rosa in Radom and hope to win that game.
