There was an upset in San Giorgio where higher ranked Fiorentina (10-9) was crushed by twelfth ranked Sangiorgese (9-11) 76-56 on Sunday. Sangiorgese held Fiorentina to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 48.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Simone Tomasini (196-93) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 assists and forward Daniele-Mario Benzoni (196-80) who added 19 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Sangiorgese players scored in double figures. Power forward Davide Rosignoli (203-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Andrea Mazzucchelli (189-94, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 12 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sangiorgese moved-up to ninth place in B, which they share with Desio. Loser Fiorentina dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Sangiorgese will face Siena Virtus (#13) on the road in the next round.
