Regular Season Round 24: Marin - Ourense 78-86

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Marin (6-18) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Ourense (14-10) 86-78 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Ourense had a 25-13 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was point guard Cristian Diaz (185-92) who scored 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Canadian-Bosnian guard Nemanja Mitrovic (197-90, college: Portland) chipped in 25 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots). Four Ourense players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Tim Derksen (191-94, college: USF) who recorded 13 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ourense moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Coruna. Newly promoted Marin keeps the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Ourense will face Palma (#10) in S'Arenal in the next round. Marin will play on the road against Cocinas.com (#15) in Logrono and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
