Regular Season Round 24: Koscian - Gornik Walbrzych 69-89

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Gornik (20-3) outleveled on the road 7th ranked Koscian (9-13) 89-69 on Saturday. Gornik dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Koscian's 36 and made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Koscian 38-25 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gornik looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-93) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Rafal Niesobski (189-82) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Mateusz Kaczmarek (187-97) who recorded 16 points and forward Waldemar Kabat (196-86) added 10 points respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gornik maintains second position with 20-3 record having just two points less than leader Slask Wroclaw. Koscian lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with 13 games lost. Gornik will face Nowa Sol (#13) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Koscian will play against Sudety (#3) and hope to win that game.
