Regular Season Round 18: Mondeville - Angers 78-74

No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked Mondeville (11-7) beat at home bottom-ranked Angers (3-15) 78-74 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mondeville dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Angers' 22 and made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Mondeville looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Power forward Marieme Badiane (190-94) notched 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks to lead the effort and Canadian forward Michelle Plouffe (193-92, college: Utah) supported her with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Mondeville players scored in double figures. Even 30 points by American guard Shaqwedia Wallace (175-89, college: Temple, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for Angers. Forward Clarince Djaldi-Tabdi (183-95) added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Angers' coach David Girandiere tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Mondeville have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bourges. Angers lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 15 games lost. Mondeville will meet league's leader Lattes Montpellier on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Angers will play against Hainaut (#8) and hope to secure a win.
