Regular Season Round 39: Kagawa FA - Fukushima 85-62

Date: February 18, 2017
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Fukushima (22-15) against fifth ranked Kagawa FA (11-26) on Saturday night. Visiting Fukushima was crushed by Kagawa FA in Takamatsu 85-62. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 33-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Kagawa FA outrebounded Fukushima 53-37 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Rintaro Tokunaga (177-86) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American center Nigel Spikes (208-89, college: Marshall) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) added 14 points in the effort for Fukushima. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kagawa FA maintains fifth place with 11-26 record. Loser Fukushima keeps the second position with 15 games lost. Kagawa FA will face again league's second-placed Fukushima at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
