Regular Season Round 39: Tochigi Brex - San-en 93-88

Date: February 19, 2017
An interesting game for Tochigi Brex (29-7) which hosted in Tochigi second-best Sanen Neophoenix (22-16). First ranked Tochigi Brex managed to get a 5-point victory 93-88. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 29-18. But Sanen Neophoenix won second period 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Josh Childress (203-83, college: Stanford) who recorded 29 points and 7 rebounds and the former international center Atsuya Ota (206-84) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Tochigi Brex have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 29-7 record, which they share with Toyota Alvark. Sanen Neophoenix at the other side keeps the second position with 16 games lost. Tochigi Brex's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Toyota Alvark in Tokyo and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sanen Neophoenix will play on the road against Yokohama BC and hope to win that game.
