Regular Season Round 7: Jamestown J. - Kentucky M. 92-137

Date: February 19, 2017
Leader Mavericks delivered the ninth victory. This time they crushed 5th ranked Jackals (5-5) 137-92 in Jamestown. Mavericks forced 27 Jackals turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists. 30 personal fouls committed by Jackals helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a quality performance for guard Ben Vozzola (198-92, college: St.Catharine) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Mike Crain (191-84, college: Valdosta St.) accounted for 21 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Worth to mention Crain played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Center Oswinn Hines came up with 22 points and 7 rebounds and Congolese forward Chiza Ntirata (203, college: Oklah.Christian) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Jackals in the defeat. Five Mavericks and four Jackals players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Mavericks. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Jackals at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. Mavericks' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Dream (#8) in Dubois and are hoping to win another game. Jackals will play on the road against Warhawks in Washington and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
