Regular Season Round 2: Canarios - San Miguel 94-88

Date: February 19, 2017
There was no surprise in Ahuachapan where San Miguel (0-2) was defeated by Canarios (1-0) 94-88 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Canarios made 8 blocks. American point guard David Lawson (185-89, college: Reinhardt) scored 37 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Guyanese center Reginald Brown (202-91) chipped in 19 points and 29 rebounds during the contest. Lawson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American forward Nduka Ezeamii (203, college: Avila) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Jordan Johnson (183-92, college: Tenn Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. San Miguel's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Canarios will meet Cojute (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. San Miguel will have a break next round.
