Regular Season Round 22: Novipiu Casale - Agrigento 82-59

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Novipiu Casale (11-11) outscored at home 7th ranked Agrigento (12-10) 82-59 on Sunday. Novipiu Casale dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Agrigento's 32. The former international power forward Niccolo Martinoni (203-89) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American forward Jordan Tolbert (201-92, college: SMU) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Novipiu Casale players scored in double figures. Novipiu Casale's coach Marco Ramondino felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American swingman Perrin Buford (198-94, college: Middle Tenn.St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Alessandro Piazza (175-87) scored 10 points. Novipiu Casale moved-up to ninth place in A2. Loser Agrigento keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Novipiu Casale will face Agropoli (#16) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
