Regular Season Round 8: Villa Clara - Santiago 102-88

Undefeated leader Villa Clara delivered the eighth consecutive victory. This time they beat 6th ranked Santiago (3-5) 102-88 in Santa Clara. The game was mostly controlled by Villa Clara. Santiago was better in fourth quarter 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 18-of-15 charity shots (120.0 percent) during the game. Villa Clara outrebounded Santiago 31-18 including 23 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. Guard Neslier Abreu (187-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points. International center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Five Villa Clara players scored in double figures. Villa Clara's coach Carlos Valle allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) replied with 31 points and Gonzalo Terres added 22 points in the effort for Santiago. Villa Clara (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row.
