Regular Season Round 21: Sammic ISB - Agustinos-Leclerc 93-79

Very expected game when 11th ranked Agustinos-Leclerc (9-12) lost to second ranked Sammic ISB (15-6) in Azpeitia 79-93 on Sunday. The game without a history. Sammic ISB led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Agustinos-Leclerc to just 7 points in second quarter. Sammic ISB looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 4 passes made by Agustinos-Leclerc's players. New Zealand center Mike Karena (208-93, college: Wright St.) nailed 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and American forward Tim Dezelski (198-90, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) accounted for 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Sammic ISB players scored in double figures. American-Nigerian Bryant Mbamalu (191-91, college: La-Lafayette, agency: Duran International) came up with 25 points and Senegalese forward Lamine Dieng (203-92, college: Pittsburg St.) added 13 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for Agustinos-Leclerc in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sammic ISB maintains second place with 15-6 record behind leader Granada. Agustinos-Leclerc lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. Sammic ISB will meet bottom-ranked Zamorano (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Agustinos-Leclerc will play against L'Hospitalet (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
