Regular Season Round 7: UNINASSAU - Sampaio 56-54

Fourth-ranked Sampaio (5-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked UNINASSAU (10-4) in Recife on Monday. UNINASSAU managed to secure only two-point victory 56-54. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 16-4 charge, which allowed them to win the game. UNINASSAU dominated on the defensive end, holding Sampaio to just 4 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Sampaio 44-32 including 36 on the defensive glass. Forward Raphaella Monteiro (181-95) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Ariadna Felipe (179-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. The former international power forward Karina Jacob (187-85) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and power forward Leticia Rodrigues (190-95) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. UNINASSAU have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader Corinthians. Defending champion Sampaio keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. UNINASSAU are looking forward to face league's leader Corinthians/Americana in Vila Medon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sampaio will play on the road against Pres.Valceslau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
