Regular Season Round 5: Hyundai-TSU - Tskaltubo 78-80

Top ranked Hyundai-TSU (3-2) recorded its second loss in Tbilisi on Tuesday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Tskaltubo (2-3) 80-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Hyundai-TSU. The guests trailed by 12 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. Tskaltubo forced 19 Hyundai-TSU turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Hyundai-TSU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Travante Williams (197-93, college: Alaska-Fairb., agency: Duran International) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. Uzbekistani center Dmitry Sviridov (212-85) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. Four Tskaltubo players scored in double figures. American point guard Christopher Anderson (170-92, college: San Diego) produced 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and point guard Sandro Sanadze (188-95) added 14 points and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Hyundai-TSU's coach Nikoloz Cherkezishvili rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tskaltubo maintains fifth place with 2-3 record. Hyundai-TSU at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They share it with Arena-76 and BC Titebi. Tskaltubo are looking forward to face higher ranked BC Titebi (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hyundai-TSU's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi SEU Tbilisi.
