Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Maccabi Rehovot (12-8) won against at home 9th ranked Hapoel Afula (9-11) 74-67 on Tuesday. Maccabi Rehovot forced 19 Hapoel Afula turnovers. The winners were led by American forward Evan Yates (198-91, college: Ashland) who scored that evening 21 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and swingman Inam Eiram (194-88) supported him with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Yates is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Maccabi Rehovot's coach Avner Yeor used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds by American forward Demetrius Treadwell (201-91, college: Akron) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Afula. His fellow American import forward Jalen Cannon (198-93, college: St.Francis, NY) added 15 points and 8 rebounds for the guests. Maccabi Rehovot have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ironi K-A. Loser Hapoel Afula dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Galil Elion. Maccabi Rehovot will meet at home league's leader Hapoel B/S in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hapoel Afula will play against Hap.R/G Givat. (#4) and hope to secure a win.
