There was a small surprise in Frankfurt where ninth ranked Fraport Skyliners II (9-12) edged 6th ranked BG Karlsruhe (11-10) 66-63 on Wednesday. Fraport Skyliners II made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 BG Karlsruhe turnovers. Niklas Kiel (207-97, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and center Mahir Agva (206-96) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Fraport Skyliners II's coach Eric Detlev used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Russian-Israeli power forward Anton Kazarnovski (206-85) with 17 points and 9 rebounds and naturalized American forward Shawn Gulley (201-93, college: Temple JC) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Fraport Skyliners II. They moved-up to seventh place in South, which they share with Dragons and Wuerzburg. Loser BG Karlsruhe keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Fraport Skyliners II will face Giants (#12) in Noerdlingen in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
