Regular Season Round 18: Rustavi - Batumi 89-96

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Energy Invest (10-8) against sixth ranked Batumi (7-11) on Wednesday night. Host Energy Invest was defeated by Batumi in a tough game in Rustavi 89-96. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Energy Invest. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-15. But Energy Invest won second period 28-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Energy Invest outrebounded Batumi 36-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. International Besik Lezhava (192-86, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 29 points to lead the effort and international Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) supported him with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Even 28 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Revaz Chachanidze (183-90) did not help to save the game for Energy Invest. American point guard Charlie Lee (175-92, college: Cleveland St.) added 13 points and 5 assists. Five Batumi and four Energy Invest players scored in double figures. Batumi moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sokhumi. Loser Energy Invest keeps the third position with eight games lost. Batumi will meet at home league's second-placed Kutaisi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Energy Invest will play against Mgzavrebi and hope to secure a win.
