The game between ninth ranked IR (9-10) and 7th ranked Thor AK (9-10) in Reykjavik on Thursday ended with biggest points difference. IR outscored guests from Akureyri 100-78. The game without a history. IR led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Thor AK's 40. IR looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Thor AK's players. It was a very good performance for point guard Matthias Sigurdarson (180-94, college: Columbus St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points, 9 rebounds and 12 assists. American forward Quincy Hankins-Cole (203-90) contributed with 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. The former international guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and international center Tryggvi Hlinason (215-97) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Thor AK. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. IR moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Njardvik and Thor AK. IR will face higher ranked Thor Thorl (#5) in Thorlakshofn in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
