Regular Season Round 19: Charleville - Lille 71-74

A very close game took place in Charleville between Lille Metropole and Charleville-Mezieres. Sixth ranked Lille Metropole (11-8) got a very close victory on the road over 3rd placed Charleville-Mezieres (11-8). Lille Metropole managed to escape with a 3-point win 74-71 in the fight for the third place. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 22-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Charleville-Mezieres outrebounded Lille Metropole 44-30 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. American forward DeQuan Jones (203-90, college: Miami, FL) helped adding 16 points. At the losing side American Wilbert Brown (200-84, college: Niagara) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson (190-94, college: LIU Brooklyn) scored 13 points and 6 assists. Charleville-Mezieres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lille Metropole moved-up to third place, which they share with Charleville. Charleville-Mezieres lost fourth consecutive game. Lille Metropole will meet at home Boulazac Basket (#9) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Charleville-Mezieres will play against SPO Rouen (#15) and hope to secure a win.
