Regular Season Round 12: Santiago - Capitalinos 56-84

The game in Santiago supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Capitalinos (6-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Santiago (3-8). Capitalinos smashed Santiago 84-56. The game was mostly controlled by Capitalinos. Santiago was better in third quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Santiago 45-23 including a 32-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Capitalinos brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. The best player for the winners was swingman Reinier Castillo (185-76) who scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Hector Martinto (197-94) chipped in 10 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Julio Heredia (183-93) who recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and 5 rebounds and Gonzalo Terres added 15 points and 7 steals respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Capitalinos maintains fourth position with 6-5 record. Santiago lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Capitalinos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Guerreros (#3) and it may be the game of the week. Santiago will play against Guantanamo and hope to win that game.
