Regular Season Round 19: Vichy Clermont - Poitiers 75-77

Date: February 24, 2017
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Poitiers and 11th ranked JA Vichy had identical 8-10 record. But JA Vichy was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Poitiers 77-75 on Friday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But JA Vichy won fourth quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded JA Vichy 47-29 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. Poitiers looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Drake Reed (194-87, college: Austin Peay St., agency: Inception Sports) fired 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Mickael Var (205-90) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. Five Poitiers players scored in double figures. Poitiers' coach Rudy Nelhomme used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) produced 22 points and David Denave (193-85) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Poitiers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. JA Vichy lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 11 games lost. Poitiers will face higher ranked ADA Blois (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JA Vichy will play against the league's second-placed Provence Basket (#2) having rather not much hope for a victory.
