Regular Season Round 21: Sitges - Pardinyes-L. 61-66

Very expected game when 13th ranked Sitges (3-14) lost at home to third ranked Pardinyes-L. (14-4) 66-61 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 66-61. Pardinyes-L. dominated on the defensive end, holding Sitges to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Sitges 39-25 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Javier Mendiburu (197-80) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Pau Lopez (181-84) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Four Pardinyes-L. players scored in double figures. Center Eduard Riu (202-82) answered with 12 points and 5 rebounds and center Xavier Sabate (205-83) added 9 points in the effort for Sitges. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Pardinyes-L. moved-up to second place in Group C-B, which they share with Quart. Sitges lost their thirteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 14 games lost. Pardinyes-L. will face Vive El Masnou (#9) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sitges will play on the road against Palma II (#5) in S'Arenal and hope to win that game.
