Regular Season Round 19: Aris - Koroivos 100-79

Not a big story in a game in Thessaloniki where 11th ranked Koroivos (6-13) was rolled over by fourth ranked Aris (11-8) 100-79. The game was mostly controlled by Aris. Koroivos was better in second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Koroivos' 32. They outrebounded Koroivos 46-26 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Aris players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was a very good performance for Serbian power forward Tadija Dragicevic (206-86) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Will Cummings (188-92, college: Temple) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Aris players scored in double figures. American guard Markel Starks (188-91, college: Georgetown) answered with 21 points and 5 assists and the other American import Toddrick Gotcher (193-93, college: Texas Tech) added 15 points in the effort for Koroivos. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Aris maintains fourth place with 11-8 record. Koroivos at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Aris' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Panathinaikos in Athens and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Koroivos will play at home against Apollon Patras (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
