Regular Season Round 21: Mondragon - Univ.Burgos 64-79

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when twelfth ranked Univ.Burgos (6-12) beat on the road 11th ranked Mondragon (7-11) 79-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Univ.Burgos. Mondragon was better in fourth quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mondragon 42-25 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Alvaro Lombera (202-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Center Gana Ndiaye (208-88) contributed with 9 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Four Univ.Burgos players scored in double figures. Power forward Ivan Saez-de-Cortazar (198-91) answered with 10 points and 5 rebounds and Andoni Aranzabal (188-91) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Mondragon. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Univ.Burgos maintains twelfth place in Group A-A with 6-12 record. Loser Mondragon keeps the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Univ.Burgos will face higher ranked Ardoi (#4) in Zizur Mayor in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
