Regular Season Round 21: Zarautz Ulacia - Cantbasket 70-81

Date: February 25, 2017
Very expected game when 13th ranked Zarautz Ulacia (5-13) lost at home to fourth ranked Cantbasket (13-4) 81-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Cantbasket. Zarautz Ulacia was better in second period 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zarautz Ulacia was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Paul Larsen (198-92, college: USC Aiken) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). His fellow American import forward Lleon Tillman (198-92, college: W.Alabama) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Julen Egana (190-96) answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds and forward Xabier Osa (196-86) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Zarautz Ulacia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Cantbasket moved-up to second place in Group A-A. Loser Zarautz Ulacia keeps the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Cantbasket will face Mondragon (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zarautz Ulacia will play against the league's leader Estela in Santander and hope to win that game.
