Regular Season Round 19: MTK - ZTE NKK 61-90

The game between 10th ranked MTK (1-15) and seventh ranked ZTE NKK (8-9) in Budapest on Saturday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Zalaegerszeg outscored MTK 90-61. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when ZTE NKK's pressure prevailed and they won that period 31-9 extending their advantage to 29 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to MTK's 30. ZTE NKK forced 21 MTK turnovers. It was a quality performance for international point guard Dora Nagy (170-95) who led the winners and scored 26 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Virag Szalay (172-84) accounted for 15 points and 6 assists for the winning side. ZTE NKK's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international power forward Nikoletta Turoczi (187-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Orsolya Zsovar (180-84) added 17 points and 4 assists respectively for MTK in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ZTE NKK maintains seventh place with 8-9 record. MTK lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. ZTE NKK will meet at home league's leader UNIQA Sopron in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MTK will play against BEAC-Ujbuda (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
