Regular Season Round 29: Al Rayyan - Al Wakrah 94-71

The game with biggest result difference took place in Doha. Local Al Rayyan (12-6) outscored 5th ranked Al Wakrah (7-11) 94-71 on Tuesday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Al Wakrah. The game was mostly controlled by Al Rayyan. Al Wakrah managed to win second period 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Rayyan looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international forward Tanguy Ngombo (197-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners and American center Marcus Bell (206-90, college: CS Stanislaus) chipped in 17 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Al Rayyan players scored in double figures. Al Rayyan's coach Matthew Skillman felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty) responded with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Nigerian forward Olatunbo Ayeni (196-87, college: St.Francis, NY) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Loser Al Wakrah keeps the fifth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Al Shamal.
