Regular Season Round 15: Guantanamo - Pinar del Rio 72-74

Eighth-ranked Guantanamo (0-14) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Pinar (12-3). The visitors from Rio managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a great evening for guard Tomas Blanco (186-90) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). The former international point guard Osmel Oliva (178-87) helped adding 19 points and 6 steals. Four Pinar players scored in double figures. Pinar's coach Pedro Cobarrubia allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Yuset Tito (197-92) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Pinar maintains second place with 12-3 record behind leader Villa Clara. Guantanamo at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. Pinar will play against Capitalinos (#3) in La Habana in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Guantanamo will play on the road against the league's leader Villa Clara (#1) in Santa Clara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
