No shocking result in a game in Vitoria where eighth ranked Spanish Baskonia (13-11) defeated 15th ranked Italian Armani Milano (7-17) 87-74 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Baskonia. Armani Milano managed to win second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Baskonia forced 19 Armani Milano turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Shane Larkin (180-92, college: Miami, FL) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 assists and Dutch-French Kim Tillie (210-88, college: Utah) who added 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American-Georgian guard Richard Hickman (189-85, college: NC-Greensboro) with 11 points and 8 assists and Serbian Milan Macvan (206-89) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. Five Baskonia and four Armani Milano players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Baskonia maintains eighth position with 13-11 record. Armani Milano lost third consecutive game. Defending Italian champion keeps the fifteenth place with 17 games lost. Baskonia will meet higher ranked Fenerbahce (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Armani Milano will play against Maccabi T-A (#14) in Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
