LSB top team - Villa Clara (14-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Guantanamo (0-15) in Santa Clara 102-80. Villa Clara dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Guantanamo's 50. They outrebounded Guantanamo 30-19. The winners were led by Osvaldo Perez who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and the former international swingman Andy Boffil (190-82) supported him with 27 points and 4 assists. Four Villa Clara players scored in double figures. Even 22 points and 6 rebounds by swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) did not help to save the game for Guantanamo. Guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) added 21 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Villa Clara maintains first position with 14-2 record. Guantanamo at the other side still closes the standings with 15 games lost. Villa Clara will play against Ciego (#5) in Avila in the next round.
