Regular Season Round 21: Munkkiniemen - PeU-Basket 88-86

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Munkkiniemen (6-18) edged 9th ranked PeU-Basket (7-17) in Helsinki 88-86 on Friday. PeU-Basket cut a 20-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Munkkiniemen looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for guard Miika Heinonen (193-99) who led his team to a victory with 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Point guard Joonas Timonen (188-0) contributed with 24 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Munkkiniemen players scored in double figures. Munkkiniemen's coach Tomi Kaminen used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Riku Laine (197-97) answered with 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and point guard Aatu Kivimaki (186-97) added 19 points in the effort for PeU-Basket. Despite that victory Munkkiniemen went down to eleventh position (Division) due to points difference. Loser PeU-Basket dropped to the tenth place with 17 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
