Regular Season Round 14: Hang Tuah - NSH GMC 87-97

There was a minor upset in Pandang where 6th ranked Hang Tuah (5-6) was defeated by eighth ranked NSH GMC (5-6) 97-87 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by NSH GMC. Hang Tuah managed to win second period 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when NSH GMC won last quarter 33-25. NSH GMC outrebounded Hang Tuah 53-33 including a 39-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Power forward Nate Barfield (206-88, college: Langston) had a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 25 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Gary Jacobs (188-92, college: Cent.Washington) chipped in 26 points, 10 rebounds and 13 assists during the contest. Guard JaJuan Smith (188-85, college: Tennessee) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and guard Falando Jones (193-90, college: Miss.Valley St.) scored 28 points and 6 rebounds. NSH GMC moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Hang Tuah. NSH GMC will meet higher ranked Aspac (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hang Tuah will play again against NSH GMC and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
