Regular Season Round 22: Innova Chef - Betanzos 63-57

There was a small surprise in Zamora where eleventh ranked Innova Chef (8-11) won against 8th ranked Betanzos (9-10) 63-57 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Betanzos won fourth quarter 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Betanzos 49-35 including 34 on the defensive glass. American forward Dionte Adams (201-94, college: Hampton) scored 9 points and 19 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Senegalese center Alioune Senghor (200-96) chipped in 13 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Adams is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. At the losing side Senegalese power forward Abdou Thiam (204-98) responded with 17 points and 9 rebounds and center Marcos Rozas (202-83) scored 4 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Innova Chef moved-up to tenth place in Group A-B. Loser Betanzos keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Innova Chef will face higher ranked BVM 2012 (#5) in Mieres in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
