CDE Talca outgunned CDU Concepcion to take 2-1 lead in the quarterfinal series. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-79. 28 personal fouls committed by Universidad de Concepcion helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Dwight McCombs (203-89, college: Cent.Florida) who scored 24 points and 9 rebounds. The former international guard Eduardo Sepulveda (186-86) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Five Espanol de Talca players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Anthony Danridge (196-86, college: N.Mexico) who recorded 23 points and forward Diego Silva (186-93) added 11 points and 8 assists respectively. Universidad de Concepcion's coach rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
