Regular Season Round 23: Herford - Hagen BG 92-75

There was an upset when second-ranked Hagen BG (16-6) lost on the road to tenth ranked Herford (10-11) 92-75 on Saturday. Herford dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hagen BG's 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Hagen BG's players. Spanish power forward Guillermo De-La-Puente (198-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. British guard Jordan Whelan (193-94, college: MidAmerica Naz.) contributed with 21 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Herford players scored in double figures. American swingman Domonique Crawford (196-84, college: Youngstown St.) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Lithuanian forward Vytautas Nedzinskas (196-87) added 13 points in the effort for Hagen BG. Hagen BG's coach Kosta Filippou rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Herford maintains tenth place in West with 10-11 record. Loser Hagen BG keeps the second position with six games lost. Herford will face higher ranked Bonn II (#9) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hagen BG will play against Dorsten (#5) and hope to win that game.
