Twelfth-ranked UCAM Murcia (7-15) was very close to win a game against fifth ranked FC Barcelona (15-6) on Sunday. FC Barcelona managed to secure only three-point victory 73-70. However their fans expected much easier game. UCAM Murcia was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-15 charge of FC Barcelona, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for Brazilian center Vitor Faverani (212-88) who led the winners and scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen (194-88) accounted for 8 points and 8 assists for the winning side. Argentinian point guard Facundo Campazzo (181-91) came up with 20 points and 4 assists and Montenegrin power forward Nemanja Radovic (208-91, agency: BeoBasket) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for UCAM Murcia in the defeat. Four UCAM Murcia players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. FC Barcelona moved-up to third place, which they share with Real Madrid and Valencia. Loser UCAM Murcia dropped to the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Joventut and Zaragoza. FC Barcelona will meet Real Madrid (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. UCAM Murcia will play against Andorra (#8) and hope to secure a win.
