Regular Season Round 22: Vigo VGO - Naron 81-78

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Vigo VGO (6-13) edged at home higher ranked Naron (11-8) 81-78 on Sunday. Vigo VGO dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Naron's 34. They outrebounded Naron 43-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. American Johnathan Murphy (199-89, college: Columbus St.) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import guard Nick Grieves (193-92, college: CS East Bay) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Murphy is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side American forward Tim Gill (203-93, college: Clarion) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and guard Samuel Barros (190-98) scored 20 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Vigo VGO moved-up to twelfth place in Group A-B, which they share with La Fecha. Loser Naron keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Vigo VGO will face higher ranked Betanzos (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
